Fiji’s Land Forces Commander Colonel Pita Driti was part of the musical preliminaries tonight at the annual Prime Minister’s Exporter of the Year Awards in Sigatoka.

Driti, who is the military’s second-in-command to Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama, Fiji’s Prime Minister, showed off his guitar skills with local band Overtime led by musical great Tom Mawi.

Driti is due to leave for a six-month tour of Iraq soon.

Bainimarama is to address one of the largest gatherings of Fiji’s private sector tonight at the awards at the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa in Natadola, Sigatoka.

Held annually to boost the export sector, the Fiji Trade and Investment Bureau-organised awards have 18 categories, including 12 special awards, four general awards, a Telecom Fiji Ltd Hall of Fame Award and the TFL Prime Minister’s Exporter of the Year Awards.
