The military hopes to conclude its investigation this week into the 20 soldiers alleged to have been harassing cane farmers in parts of Fiji.
Fiji military Land Forces Commander, Colonel Pita Driti, told FijiLive the military personnel were being investigated following a complaint lodged by the National Farmers Union (NFU).
According to the FNU, farmers from Wairabetia in Nadi, Navoli in Ba and Labasa were being annoyed by some soldiers.
“We are trying to get some more facts. I need two more days to conclude the investigations,” said Col Driti, who will be heading to Iraq later this month to lead Fiji’s 200-plus contingent serving under UNAMI, for six months.
“But if there are soldiers out there still continuing this act they should stop. Anyone found will be punished accordingly.”
