A fire at the Lautoka Muslim School has forced over 300 students and teachers to stay home this week.
A statement from the Ministry of Education said it is awaiting a report from the Director of Primary Education Dr Brij Lal, before making decisions on the rebuilding of the school.
The Ministry has identified funds leftover from its budget this year, it said.
The fire, which started at 1:20am early yesterday, destroyed 14 classrooms, a toilet block, a storeroom and the kindergarten classroom.
A major part of the building was wooden, which made the fire to travel very quickly.
The Lautoka firefighters fought hard to contain the fire from spreading to the attached concrete double storey building and mosque.
Luckily, no one was hurt in the fire.
The school has a roll of 591 children, including the kindergarten and 16 teachers.
