The swearing in ceremony for Fiji’s new President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau will be held this Thursday.

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama confirmed this at a media briefing in Suva tonight, one week after announcing that Nailatikau would be Fiji’s fourth President.

He was appointed Vice-President following the abrogation of the 1997 Constitution in April and was later appointed in an acting capacity following the retirement of his predecessor Ratu Josefa Iloilo in April.

Nailatikau is a former commander of the Fiji military and has also served as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
