A former Fiji civil servant has pleaded guilty to stealing a $1500 laptop and a cashbox from her employers.
Lydia Elma Hing stole the IBM Thinkpad laptop while employed as an executive officer for Government Information Technology and Computing Services between January 2003 and March 2008.
Hing also stole a cash box from the Fiji College of Agriculture while employed there as acting administrative officer between May and August 2009.
Her lawyers asked Magistrate Eparama Rokoika for a reduced sentence as she had pleaded guilty on the first opportunity and had cooperated with Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) officers.
FICAC had recovered both items after searching her premises.
The case has been adjourned to November 25 for sentencing.
