The Fiji Government has signaled it is seriously moving to reform the public service by stripping Parmesh Chand of the Sugar permanent secretary post.
Instead, Chand will solely be responsible for the civil service as its chief executive.
“We want him to concentrate on the public service reforms,” Public Service Commission chairman Joseva Serulagilagi told FijiLive.
The position of permanent secretary in the Sugar Ministry is now the responsibility of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama is the Minister for Sugar.
