American entertainer Barbra Streisand achieved the feat of topping the US and British album charts simultaneously as her record "Love Is The Answer" went to number one Sunday.

The 67-year-old topped the album charts here for the first time since 2002, her sixth album to hit number one, the official UK charts company said.

Actress and singer Streisand is also the first artist to top the US chart in five consecutive decades.

"I was just told that 'Love Is The Answer' is at number one in the UK and US -- and I want to share that honour with all of you, my fans, my friends, who have made that possible," she said.

"You'd think that getting the news that you've been number one in five consecutive decades would make you feel old, but this makes me feel young."

Madonna's greatest hits compilation "Celebration" stayed at number two, while Tennessee rockers Paramore fell from the top spot to number three with their album "Brand New Eyes".

The 1950s-1960s heros Cliff Richard and The Shadows were up to number four with "Reunited", while blues rocker Chris Rea's new album "Still So Far To Go" entered the chart at number eight.

Meanwhile 18-year-old London rapper Chipmunk -- real name Jamal Fyffe -- entered the singles chart at number one with "Oopsy Daisy", while British girl group The Saturdays went in at number two with "Forever Is Over".
