The number of people confirmed dead after a devastating tsunami in Samoa and neighbouring American Samoa and Tonga has risen to 184, officials said Wednesday.
"Search and rescue operations continue for the six remaining missing persons. To date there are 143 confirmed deaths," the Samoan government said.
A disaster management official in neighbouring American Samoa confirmed the toll there remained at 32 with two missing following the tsunami caused by an 8.0-magnitude quake last week.
Another nine people were killed in the tsunami on Niuatoputapu island in the far north of Tonga.
