A moderate 5.9-magnitude earthquake hit off the Pacific island nation of Fiji early morning.
The quake struck at 3:47 am was centred 439 kilometres (273 miles) west-northwest of capital Suva at a relatively shallow depth of 22 kilometres, the US Geological Survey said.
The Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre did not issue any warnings or alerts following the quake.
Fiji sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire" where continental plates meet, causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
A South Pacific tsunami generated by an 8.0-magnitude earthquake earlier this week killed at least 155 people in Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga.
