Outgoing Fiji President Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivuda was welcomed back at his Veiseisei Village by his people in a colourful traditional ceremony yesterday.
Ratu Iloilo took over as President after the 2000 coup and announced his retirement over a month ago.
Visibly touched by the reception accorded him, Iloilo advised his people to put a lot of focus on the education of their children saying it was the key to the well being of future generations of his Vuda district.
Chiefs from Fiji’s 14 provinces, including the other 20 districts in the province of Ba were also represented at Veiseisei.
Former Speaker of Parliament and army commander Ratu Epeli Nailatikau is currently Fiji’s Acting President and is expected to be confirmed in the position soon.
