Seven employees at the Fiji Customs and Immigration Department have been suspended for their alleged involvement in a human trafficking scam.
Immigration Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau told FijiLive that investigation into the matter is still continuing and more people are likely to be suspended.
“The officers are primarily line officers at the airport,” he said.
Meanwhile, 13 Indian nationals arrested earlier this month in connection with the scam remain detained at the Korovou Prison and are awaiting deportation.
The group was brought into the country to work in various places, including a supermarket.
Two local businessmen are alleged to have lured the group to Fiji and have been charged by police.
