Popular Fiji business figure James Datta is no longer managing director of retail chain Courts Homecentres.

Fijlive understands Datta has reached a settlement with the company to “relinquish” the top job and instead, continue as a non-executive director.

The changeover took effect on Saturday, July 31.

The company is expected to issue a statement shortly.

The advertising face of Homecentres for many years, Datta has been with the company since the 1970s when it was Burns Philp South Seas.
