Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama is expected to update Melanesian Spearhead Group leaders on Fiji’s new roadmap this week.

Government spokesman Neumi Leweni confirmed the PM will also update the leaders on the situation in Fiji.

Bainimarama reportedly told Auckland’s Radio Tarana he hopes the MSG leaders, who supported Fiji’s Forum suspension, will understand his Government’s position.

“This special meeting is very critical to Fiji as I would like to personally share with my fellow MSG leaders Fiji’s road map and the mandate that guides my government to ensure true, democratic, non-communal, elections for parliamentary representation are held by September 2014,” he reportedly said.

The gathering, which takes place in Port Vila comes ahead of next month’s summit in Australia of the Pacific Islands Forum.

All four leaders of the MSG have confirmed their attendance.

The MSG director general, Rima Ravusiro, has told Pacnews there is no set agenda for the meeting expected to go ahead on July 10th.
