A senior officer at Fiji’s largest commercial bank has been charged by police for allegedly stealing more than $85,000.
Police assistant spokesman Corporal Suliano Tevita said the 40-year-old ANZ Bank employee was charged yesterday after an internal audit by the bank revealed discrepancies.
He said further investigation showed the man had allegedly systematically taken the money out of the bank.
“The officer managed to do this between 2007 and 2008. He is alleged to have falsified signatures and electronically transfered the money to his personal account,” Tevita told FijiLive.
He has been charged with 50 counts of larceny by servant.
The man is due to appear in court on the 7th of this month.
