Fiji’s business sector should now throw their full support behind Government, now that it has indicated the direction it would take.

Himmat Lodhia, Fiji Retailers Association president said this would help bring about economic prosperity for the country.

Lodhia after the national address, by the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama on Fiji’s strategic plan this morning, said this was a positive mood.

He said “the PM’s message is that we should all put our shoulder behind the wheel so that the country and economy will move forward”.

“This is the first time the message from the government is clear in which direction they are moving, that is the most important thing.”

“As a business community we will support it,” he reiterated.

Also according to Lodhia, small and medium retailers will be affected by the new wages order ‘but we support more wages for employees’.

“With more money in the economic system, there will be more spending, so it is a win-win situation.”

Suva Chamber of Commerce president Nur Bano Ali echoed similar sentiments.

“….Government has indicated the road they have chosen and all I can say is that these are very positive things so the private sector will have to play its part.”

Bainimarama has announced that the government’s focus will now be on economic recovery.
