The Fiji government received a dividend of $2.2million from Airports Fiji Limited today.

A cheque of $2,292,707 was presented by AFL chairman Rick Rickman to Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, who also holds the portfolio of Commerce Minister.

Sayed-Khaiyum said after receiving the cheque that despite a reduction of $5 in departure tax, AFL had managed to give out an increased dividend from that of $1.1million last year.

“It goes to show that you can still increase your profits and your bottom line by having a reduced sum from the departure tax,” he said.

Sayed-Khaiyum said government would like to make the airport a place where people felt a lot more comfortable coming through and where facilities were up to international standards.
