Seven men charged with the killing of a 16-year-old sex worker last year have pleaded not guilty to murder in the High Court in Suva this morning.

Anil Singh, Vikash Chand, Keshwa Nand, Anesh Ram, Sat Nam, Ilaitia Waqa and Binesh Kumar have been released on bail.

They are due to appear again in court for a pre-trial conference on August 31.

The men are alleged to have murdered Zoya Bibi on June 8, 2008 and mutilated her body.

Bibi’s body was found in the Narere River, Nasinu.

Police had initially thought the body was that of an elderly male.

It is alleged the suspects were drinking with the victim before her death.

The group all lived in the Nasinu area.
