The Pacific Youth Festival next month in Suva, expected to be the biggest youth gathering in the region, received a timely nudge from the Fiji Government today.
At its meeting this morning, Cabinet endorsed the awarding of tax rebate incentives to cash sponsors of the festival.
A 100 per cent tax rebate will be provided for a minimum of $10,000 cash sponsorship.
The Government is providing $900,000 for the hosting of the event, with the remaining funds to be sourced through sponsorships.
Twenty two countries have been invited to the event scheduled for July 11-18 at the University of the South Pacific’s Laucala Bay Campus.
Acting Sports Minister Dr Neil Sharma said an estimated 240 youths will be employed as paid volunteers before and during the event.
