The future of stricken domestic carrier Air Fiji will be decided by a board meeting of shareholders in Beijing China this weekend says the Transport Workers Union (TWU).
Union general secretary Kamlesh Kumar said the TWU had been allowed to make a written submission at the meeting and is hopeful of a good outcome.
Kumar said he had tried his best to have the union represented at the meeting but without success.
“We have been trying to explore the possibility of us going and addressing the board members. We would have loved to but that wasn’t possible.”
“What we have been able to secure is we have done a submission which we have been assured will be included in the agenda for the meeting,” said Kumar.
The meeting will determine the future of close to 200 employees of the domestic carrier who were informed by the airline’s China-based shareholders in May that the company was being shut down.
Employees have not been paid since mid-April.
