Fiji’s competition watchdog has called for submissions from users of the Port Denarau Marina in Nadi on the fees and charges levied at the port.
Commerce Commission Chairman Dr Mahendra Reddy told FijiLive it was also collecting submissions from the maritime population in the Yasawas and Mamanucas as it moves to review the fees and charges levied by the PDM.
He said a submission is expected from the port’s management company on its fees proposals.
Reddy said the commission would look at other issues like cost of investment and subsequent returns.
In a paid advertisement it stated: “The Commission also wishes to encourage submissions from other downstream operators who whilst may not be direct users of PDM services may however get affected as a result of such price rises or introduction of a new charge”.
The commission expected all written submissions to be in by June 5; the draft determination to be made by July 10; comments on draft determination from stakeholders to be submitted by July 24; and the final determination on August 14.
