The unfolding crisis at Air Fiji has not only left more than 100 workers jobless, it has also left some disgruntled customers who claim they have not been refunded money paid for tickets before operations ceased.
It has also been revealed that the Consumer Council of Fiji has so far recorded three official complaints from customers, and continuing.
A spokesperson from the council revealed to FijiLive that there could be more complaints as at present, a good number of customers were still trying to contact Air Fiji offices and travel agents as to how they could have their money refunded.
“This doesn’t mean that it’s a small matter as there are many others out there who have not lodged their complaints.
“We are not unaware of any exact numbers, as Air Fiji would have those figures. They have not made any attempts, publicly or to our knowledge to address the issue,” the spokesman said.
Another council’s concern is the disruption of commuter travel between the main centres and outlying destinations such as Rotuma and parts of Lau.
“The Council is concerned about the implications on consumers who depend on these air routes not only for essential travel but more importantly, for some essential goods and services,” Padarath said.
Comments are being sought from Air Fiji CEO Sialeni Vuetaki.
