Vodafone Fiji has announced a permanent 5 cents drop in SMS (TXT) charges effective immediately.

The new on-net (Vodafone-Vodafone) SMS is now only 15 cents per text compared to 20 cents previously. This is a 25 per cent reduction in rates and comes at a time when prices of most consumer goods are going up after the recent devaluation of the Fiji dollar.

Announcing the drop in rates, the Chief Marketing Office of Vodafone Fiji, Avanthi Senaratne said, “Vodafone has continuously dropped call and text charges over the last few years.  As we continue to build on our customer base and generate more volume of traffic, we are able to pass on the savings from the economies of scale back to our subscribers”.

“The reduction is SMS rates of 25 per cent, we hope will provide some relief to our customers since communication is an integral part of daily life,” she adds.

Vodafone is also continuing its 5 cents on-net promotional text offer from 12.00 midnight to 5.00am daily until further notice.

Postpay customers are currently enjoying SMS for only 10 cents per text.
