The hunt for a suitable person to head the Fiji Audio Visual Commission (FAVC) ends today, after the position was re-advertised over the last two weeks.
FAVC board chair Sharon Smith-Johns told FijiLive the position had to be re-advertised because it was a significant role that required the “right person” to fill.
“This industry has generated, in the past years, over $300 million worth of economic activity so it’s a key position, it’s a key role and you need to get the right person for that position,” Smith-Johns said.
The position was advertised after former CEO Taniela Bolea was sent on leave following accusations of mismanagement.
Smith-Johns confirmed Bolea has also re-applied for the position the successful candidate),” Smith-Johns said.
FAVC is a government-funded body responsible for the development of Fiji’s audio visual industry, which includes film, TV, Video, music, IT and e-commerce as well as the operation of Fiji’s Studio Zones around the country.
