Fiji consumers will, from tomorrow, pay 15 cents more for kerosene at a price of $1.12 per litre, and diesel by 16 cents to $1.43 per litre.

This follows an announcement by the Prices and Incomes Board of an increase in retail prices of four petroleum products

Also, as of tomorrow May 18, the prices of motor spirit and premix outboard fuel will increase.

Motor spirit that currently retails at $1.63 per litre will increase by 15 cents to $1.78 per litre while premix outboard fuel will increase by 16 cents to $1.70 per litre.

A statement from the PIB today said the new prices were based on the April 2009 world prices.

“The Board conducts monthly price review based on cost of internationally traded product with a 1 month lag,” the PIB said.

“The new prices reflect the increase in the international product prices accompanied by the partial impact of devaluation and the move toward lower Sulphur Diesel.”

The PIB said the full impact of devaluation would be considered in the next review.

It said consumers in Suva, Lautoka and Lami areas should expect the following reductions in retail price from service stations effective tomorrow.
