A new entity to be called the National Employment Bureau is being set up to provide Fiji citizens with employment prospects abroad.
According to a Government statement today, discussions were underway by the Employment Relations Advisory Board (ERAB) to look at the possibility of offering locals with employment opportunities in the foreign countries.
“We are proposing for the National Employment Bureau to be established in the Ministry of Labour and then we will liaise with countries that are actually friendly to Fiji in terms of offering employment markets,” said Taito Waqa, Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment.
Taiwan is one of the countries that has been identified by ERAB as having such potentials.
“We thinking to look at Taiwan and other foreign countries and there are requests from these countries,” Waqa said.
