Air Pacific will go ahead with a 10 percent pay cut for a period of three months effective immediately, according to a press statement issued by the airline this hour.
Executive management including the managing director have taken a 15 per cent pay cut while management and contracted staff will take the 10 percent cut, subject to review after three months.
The airline cites “significant downturns in overall business” as the reason behind the move, saying air cargo rates and airfares are at “historically low levels resulting in substantially reduced income for the first six months of this year”.
The airline says the measure is being taken after talks with the Transport Workers Union and the Fiji Airline Pilots Association.
