United States reality TV production company House Hunters International is scheduled to shoot two episodes of its ‘House Hunters’ show here in Fiji this month.
House Hunters is aired in the US’ Home and Gardens Television (HGTV) show.
The Fiji Audio Visual Commission (FAVC) confirmed these events after details of the production were confirmed.
The Commission said the two episodes would be filmed back to back.
FAVC manager marketing Florence Swammy said a lot of scenic footage would also be filmed and shown on the two shows.
This, she said, would present Fiji as a striking tourist destination and a great film production location.
FAVC chairperson Sharon Smith-Johns said the episodes would feature two US couples buying a home each on Koro Island in the first episode and on Viti Levu in the second.
She said each of the productions was a reality show centred on a couple who travel to different places to buy a vacation home.
“For the next two episodes of House Hunters, homes have been selected in Fiji over other exotic locations,” Smith-Johns said.
She said participants would be looking at three homes for each episode and “the shows will be highlighting the ways in which real estate is purchased in Fiji by foreigners”.
She added producers have found excellent custom built homes in Fiji to show the homebuyers and would be televised on the programme.
“Fiji will receive a lot of primetime TV in the United States as a result of this show airing and the spin-offs for us will be enormous,” said Smith-Johns.
“HGTV has a very high viewership of 1 to 1.5 million at least for its new episodes. It has re-runs after three hours,” she said.
The two Fiji-produced episodes will air in November and December later this year.
