The five-star Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa has appointed Daniele Vastolo as its new general manager.

Vastolo replaces David Hopcroft who recently moved to the Shangri-La Hotel, New Delhi in India.

Vastolo has worked in the tourism hospitality industry for 16 years in Africa, Europe, Malaysia and the Philippines.

He joined the Shangri-La group six years ago and has previously worked at the Shangri-La hotels and resorts in Kuala Lumpur, Cebu and Boracay in the Philippines and the Seychelles.

Vastolo is multi lingual not only fluent in his mother tongue Italian, but as well as English and French, and is a scuba diving and sailing enthusiast.

On his appointment to Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa, he said he looked forward to the richness of working in a new culture.

“I have worked in culturally diverse places and I enjoy learning about new communities and the Shangri-La has had a long-standing relationship with the community here,” Vastolo said.

“Fiji is a well known destination and the Shangri-La has had a presence here for a long time and I look forward to learning and finding ways of maximizing our presence in Fiji and in our source markets.”
