Vodafone Fiji has cut its international call charges to a flat rate of 70 cents a minute to anywhere in the world as part of its Easter holidays promotions.
International calls to Afghanistan, normally $2.04 per minute, now carry a savings of $1.34. Similarly, calls to Iraq, Cyprus and Sinai have all been reduced from $1.67 down to 70 cents per minute.
“We know that a lot of our customers’ families and friends have migrated to different parts of the world,” said Vodafone Fiji chief marketing officer Avanthi Senaratne.
“Communication costs are sometimes a barrier too for many to stay connected with loved ones in overseas. Then there are many military personnel serving in countries like Afghanistan, Iraq and many other countries,” said Senaratne.
The discounted call rates also apply to post pay customers.
Responding to the announcement, David Roth, director of external affairs for Natural Waters of Viti Ltd, bottlers of Fiji Water, said the discounted rates were welcome news.
“At a time when businesses are looking at every possible means to cut costs, reduction in Vodafone’s international call rates is most timely. Many of our suppliers and customers and staff are offshore,” Roth said.
“International call charges therefore, account for a significant portion of our communication costs. The 70 cents per minute call charges offer significant savings on normal rates,” he said.
