Australian tourists set a new record of 24,436 arrivals last September alone, the Fiji Islands Bureau of Statistics revealed.
This record indicates an increase of 1707 visitors (7.5 per cent) to Fiji, the highest ever recorded for any one month.
These Australians were among 53,135 visitors who either holidayed, visited friend and relatives, and conducted business in Fiji last September.
Compared to the previous year, the Bureau recorded 22,729 visitor arrivals.
Canadian visitors also recorded a high increase of 19.6 per cent.
Government statistician Timoci Bainimarama said other increases were recorded for visitors from Malaysia (up 39.4 per cent) and Pacific Islands (up 4.8 per cent).
However, he said decreases for the month were recorded by Taiwan (21.9 per cent); Japan (15.6 per cent); US (9.4 per cent); New Zealand (7.2 per cent), and the United Kingdom (7.1 per cent).
