Star-studded romantic comedy "He's Just Not That Into You" took top spot at the North American box office this weekend, final figures showed Monday.

The movie, based on the best-selling book of the same name, stars Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore and Scarlett Johansson as a group of young people struggling to make sense of their relationships.

The Baltimore-set film raked in 27.8 million dollars in its opening weekend after debuting in 3,175 theaters, industry tracker Exhibitor Relations said.

In second place was "Taken", the revenge thriller set in Paris featuring Liam Neeson as a retired CIA agent seeking the gang of sex traffickers who have kidnapped his daughter.

The Pierre Morel-directed action movie took 20.5 million dollars in its second week of release.

The animated children's adventure "Coraline" came in third place bagging 16.8 million dollars in its first weekend.

Another new arrival, "The Pink Panther 2" came in at fourth, with 11.6 million dollars, beating comedy "Paul Blart Mall Cop" -- the tale of a security guard turned hero -- which trailed in fifth with 10.9 million.

The sci-fi thriller "Push" came in sixth, earning just over 10 million dollars to edge out ten-time Oscar-nominated "Slumdog Millionaire," which took 7.2 million after 13 weeks on release.

Clint Eastwood's "Gran Torino," remains the highest grossing film in the top 10. The tale of a foul-mouthed Korean War veteran earned another 7.16 million for an overall take of 120.2 million over nine weeks.

"The Uninvited" -- a ghoulish tale of death and haunting -- stood in ninth place with 6.3 million trailed by the family flick "Hotel for Dogs", which earned 5.7 million.
