US filmmaker Woody Allen will most probably shoot his next film in Paris next year, France's culture ministry said Tuesday.

"The filming will very likely take place in Paris in autumn of 2010," officials told AFP following an announcement made by French Culture Minister Christine Albanel earlier in the day.

The 73-year-old director told Albanel in December he hoped to shoot his next film in Paris after having to drop the project once for financial reasons.

"I have a scenario for Paris all written. I was going to shoot it a few years ago but when we came here and I started to put the film together, suddenly it became such an expensive film that I could not do it," he said.

"Now that there is a new tax incentive in Paris we are returning and trying to see if it is possible to come again to do it," he said, referring to a proposal allowing directors tax cuts of up to four million euros.

Allen's last batch of films, including "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" and London-based drama "Match Point", were filmed in Europe.
