Two five-star resorts in Fiji have been named ‘Best for Families, South Pacific’ while one scooped an extra award in the same category for being the best resort for families in the world.

Trip Advisor Travellers’ Choice website named Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort & Spa (Coral Coast) and Radisson Resort (Denarau) “Best for Families, South Pacific” at its 2009 awards.

It named Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort ‘Best for Families, World’ resort.

The award recognises hotels for exceptional accommodation, service and value.

Unlike other hotel awards programmes, Trip Advisor Travellers’ Choice winners are based on real and unbiased reviews and opinions about hotels posted on the Trip Advisor website.

Travellers’ Choice awards honour the world’s best hotels through a programme whereby winners are chosen on the basis of the reviews and opinions of millions of travellers and holidaymakers around the world.

Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Radisson Resort were among 443 other hotels worldwide honoured this year.

Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa is well known for being a family friendly resort and it has previously been honoured for its services for families.

“We are very proud to receive this award and this accolade is recognition of the dedication and hard work of our staff,” resort’s general manager David Hopcroft said.

Radisson Resort general manager Justin Phillips said: “We are particularly elated to receive the ‘Best for Families, South Pacific’ award, as it is a direct reflection of our guest satisfaction in this important category for us at Radisson. Not least, the award highlights the successful combination of family friendly services, a competitive price and a level of luxury and indulgence expected at a five star resort..”

The Trip Advisor website claims to be the largest travel community in the world with nine million members and 20 million reviews and opinions.

The website said it attracts some 32 million visitors each month.
