The Real Estate Agents Licensing Board (REALB) is now in the process of looking for a registrar who will act as chief executive officer for the Board.
The registrar will be responsible for the proper administration and functions of the REALB in accordance with stipulated policies and directions.
A paid statement by the board said that specifically, the registrar would advise REALB on policy and development matters relating to real estate agency matters.
The successful candidate will also be responsible to lead in the organisation, planning, coordination and supervision of employees’ performances to ensure efficiency in the delivery of services provided.
According to the paid statement, the registrar’s functions include: act as registrar of real estate; establish register of real estate agents; issue licenses and certificates of approval and records in these register; corrects register; keeps copies of permits; ensures that there is no wrongful procurement of license and certificate of approval; issue fresh licenses, certificates of approval and permits in the event these are lost; inspects real estate books and documents; provides custody for document taken into possession; and establishes board’s fees in its investigations of businesses of real estate agents.
It said that for appointment, the individual must have at least a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Land Management, Land Economy or equivalent with at least seven years in management and real estate matters; has the ability to communicate with and influence people at all levels and across most functions of the board; holds a post graduate degree in business, economics, commerce or related discipline.
The REALB was established in August in 2007 with the principal functions being the licensing of real estate agents and granting of permits; approval of sales persons; approval of branch managers; and matters relating to discipline.
