The Fiji Electricity Authority surcharge is likely to be dropped from today, it has been revealed.
The FEA had last week applied to reduce the fuel surcharge following queries from the Commerce Commission and the Prime Minister’s office about the authority’s current level of its fuel costs.
While questions forwarded to FEA chief executive Hasmukh Patel remained unanswered, Commerce Commission chairman Charles Sweeney confirmed the Commission expected to issue formal approval to the FEA’s application today.
He told FijiLive that the Commission was also considering some other aspects of the fuel surcharge.
However, he said he was not in a position to comment further at this stage.
