The Fiji Islands Hoteliers and Tourism Association (FIHTA) say there have been no reports of tourists affected by the recent flooding and adverse weather conditions experienced around the country.
FIHTA president Dixon Seeto said tourist transfers were being carried out successfully via the various road accesses available. “All roads are open and so are the airports, particularly in Labasa, Nausori and Nadi so all tourist transfers are being done, particularly to the Nadi Airport via accesses available,” Seeto said. “But our main concern right now is what is going to be the development to the current weather conditions. “Hopefully, it won’t deteriorate further,” he added. All airports are open at this time. Meanwhile, Nausori Airport acting general manager Timoci Ravanua said the Nausori terminal was open and operational. “There have been no damages to the airport but we’re still assessing the situation on the ground,” Ravanua said. He said airline services had resumed and it was up to the airline companies to prepare its flight schedules. Ravanua also confirmed that all 13 smaller airports were operational. Questions forwarded to the Nadi International Airport manager Luke Koroi and Tourism Fiji chairman Patrick Wong remained unanswered. * Get local and international rugby news & live updates/results on your phone.
