Former Minister for Primary Health Services and Labour Party stalwart Udit Narayan’s contract as principal research officer at the Sugar Ministry has been terminated.
The contract termination comes after a review of the Sugar Unit, which now has been moved from the Ministry of Agriculture to the Prime Minister's Office.
Permanent secretary in the PM's Office Parmesh Chand has revealed that Narayan's services were no longer required following the review.
Narayan was appointed to the position by then interim sugar minister Mahendra Chaudhry.
The former FLP parliamentarian was operating out of the Sugar Commission office in Lautoka.
He has been given one month's notice to vacate office.
