Disney's "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" sang and danced straight to the top of the North American box office earnings on its first weekend out, Exhibitor Relations said Sunday.
HSM3 cashed in with 42 million dollars in ticket sales for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday weekend, trailed by another film in its premier weekend, horror franchise "Saw V," which scared up 30.5 million dollars.
Rounding out the Top 10 were "Max Payne," 7.6 million; "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" 6.9 million; "Pride and Glory," in its first weekend out at 6.3 million and "The Secret Life of Bees," at 5.9 million.
Also near the top were "W." with 5.3 million; "Eagle Eye," with 5.1 million; "Body of Lies" at 4.0 million dollars and "Quarantine" with 2.5 million.
