Fiji’s largest international airline Air Pacific Ltd will have its Boeing 747 aircraft undergo major facelifts in Singapore beginning next month.
And the airline confirmed that the first Boeing 747-400 aircraft would undergo refurbishment as part of a planned maintenance programme in Singapore during October and November this year.
It also confirmed that its second Boeing 747-400 aircraft would receive the same extensive refurbishment during scheduled maintenance in February and March next year.
Air Pacific’s chief executive officer and managing director John Campbell said upon completion of upgrading works, customers would enjoy a fresh new cabin with an upgraded digital inflight entertainment system, renewed galleys and lavatories.
He said seat covers, carpets and curtains will be replaced, and the entire aircraft will be re-painted, new interior lighting to brighten up the interior and exterior.
“The Boeing 747 aircraft are very popular so it is important that we continue to meet customers expectations, not just in the delivery of service but also by maintaining a high quality product,” Campbell said.
He said Air Pacific would lease a United Airlines Boeing 747-400 aircraft to ensure schedule integrity was maintained.
“The flights will be flown by United Airlines pilots and serviced by United Airlines cabin crew, who will be assisted by two Air Pacific cabin crew on each flight,” Campbell said.
He said the United Airlines aircraft would be in operation from September 28 this year for almost two months.
Further queries forwarded to Air Pacific on the subject remained unanswered.
