Bollywood actor-director Aamir Khan said Monday he was "better prepared" for the Oscars next year, after his directorial debut "Taare Zameen Par" was last week named as India's official entry.

"Taare Zameen Par" (Stars on Earth) is about an eight-year-old boy with a learning disorder and his relationship with his school teacher (Aamir Khan).

It will be Aamir's second bid for an Oscar, after his 2001 production "Lagaan" (Tax), a movie about villagers who challenge British colonials to a cricket match to avoid paying taxes.

"Lagaan" made it to the final five in the Oscar foreign films category, but lost out to Bosnian entry "No Man's Land."

"I will be better prepared this time. I think it is to my advantage... people know about my previous movies," Aamir told reporters in India's entertainment capital on Monday.

"I will hire a publicist (this time)", he added.

"Taare Zameen Par" was a huge success in Bollywood, collecting more than one billion rupees (21 million dollars) at the box-office.

Aamir had also starred in India's entry to the Oscars last year -- "Rang de Basanti" (Colour me saffron), but the movie failed to get shortlisted.
