The College of the Marshall Islands, a community college located in the warm central Pacific six degrees north of the Equator on Majuro atoll, seeks an Instructor to join in our Business and Information Technology Department as a teacher of Business and Information Technology. This is a full time, continuing position to begin in January 2010.
Position: Instructor of Business and Information Technology
General Description:
The successful candidate will teach business and vocational (certificate) courses in software applications, web design and publishing, information systems and hardware, computer repair and maintenance, Visual Basic Programming, communications, marketing, management, introduction to economics and business law. There are also opportunities to develop and shape new courses in areas of expertise.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
* Teaching 12 credits per semester
* Designing, implementing and helping with faculty mentoring for professional development.
* Student advising
* Assistance in the implementation of department plans for the attainment of department goals
* Able to help with program review and course outlines
* Involved in out-reach program and community services to the local businesses
Minimum Qualifications:
? Possess a Master's Degree in Information Systems/Information Technology or Business.
? International experience in teaching upper level as well as entry level Information Systems/Information Technology courses.
? Experience as a teacher of business courses
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with:
? Teaching experience that incorporates best practices in the classroom.
? Doctoral degree in the field of business or Information Systems/Information Technology.
Additional Desirable Characteristics:
- Flexible to changes in assignments within the department.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Good work ethnics and work well with the team. (good people skills)
- Has experience teaching outside his/her own culture or has experience teaching in the Pacific Region.
Salary and Benefits Offered at the College of the Marshall Islands:
? Compensation
? US$20,596.00 to $31,707.00. Salary placement is depending upon relevant education, training and experience.
? Salary is supplemented by up to $9,000 in annual housing allowance.

? Two-year initial contract
? Transportation from the point of hire to the Marshall Islands
? Shipping reimbursement of between $2,500 and $4,000, depending on the number of accompanying dependents.
NOTE: the Republic of the Marshall Islands has only a national wage tax and no state or local wage taxes. As a result, the total withholding on earning can be substantially less than in many locations, including the U.S. U.S. citizen may also enjoy additional tax benefits based on non-resident status.
