The School of Education invites applications for the position of Assistant
Lecturer/Lecturer in Education to be based in the USP Solomon Islands
Campus.


The successful applicant is expected to be able to teach two or more of
these areas: education psychology, educational research, curriculum studies,
development studies in education, educational assessement and evaluation;
marking assignments; advising students regarding Education programmes and
courses; working in collaboration with local USP staff; revising some course
materials; setting and marking examination papers; conduct research; promote
SOE programmes and courses; perform some administrative duties related to
teaching and learning and other duties assisgned by the Head of School of
Education.


The applicant must have a PhD in the relevant areas with formal tertiary
teaching qualification and at least five years teaching experience in
secondary and primary schools but preferably in teacher education at
tertiary level in a multi-cultural setting, good communication skills and
good interpersonal relationships.


Preference will be given to applicants who are familiar with the Pacific
region - particularly the Solomon Islands context and some research
experience in education/learning.

The position is available from 1 January 2010 for a period of three years
and may be renewed by mutual agreement.

Salary Range: Assistant Lecturer

Lecturer SI$176,189 to SI$211,427 per annum

SI$217,788 to SI$286,566 per annum

(Inclusive of 15% Gratuity)


In addition to the above benefits, the University contributes 10% of basic
salary to an approved superannuation scheme, provides airfare and relocation
costs where appropriate.
