Fly-half Stephen Jones has given Wales's World Cup campaign a timely boost as he was declared fully fit on Tuesday.
It was at the Stade du Pre-Hembert here two months ago that Jones injured his groin during a Welsh training week in France, so it was fitting that it should also be the venue of his, and his team-mates', first training session on French soil following their arrival in the country earlier in the day.
"Stephen has come through a couple of training sessions now and is 100 per cent fit," said Nigel Davies, the Wales attack coach.
It means that Jones comes into contention for Wales's opening match against Canada on Sunday.
"That is great news for the squad. No firm decision has been made on whether or not he will figure at the weekend," added Davies. "Our only other outstanding injury now is with second row Ian Evans, who is hoping to be in the mix for the Australian game in Cardiff next week."
Jones damaged his groin in a practice match in July and there were originally fears that he would not recover in time for the Canada match.
But now he has the chance to add to his 62 caps in what will be his third World Cup.
"I have to admit there was a time when I thought I might have to miss out on the World Cup," he said.
"It wasn't until I got back home and the Welsh doctors scanned the injury and gave me the results that I knew I could make it. I am deliriously happy to be back in full training and to be in France with the squad."
