Sunderland on Wednesday completed the six million pound signing of Southampton striker Kenwyne Jones, according to the south-coast Championship club.
Trinidad international Jones became Sunderland manager Roy Keane's third signing of the day after Ian Harte (free) and Danny Higginbotham (three million pounds from Stoke) completed moves to the Stadium of Light.
Black Cats' forward Stern John joined Southampton as part of the Jones switch.
Defender Harte, 29, arrived at Sunderland on a free transfer after impressing manager Keane during a trial.
Harte is a former team-mate of Keane, having shared the pitch with his new boss during his 64-cap Republic of Ireland career.
Keane told the club's website: "I've played alongside Ian and I know his qualities he brings to our club. You need a big squad in the Premier League and he will add strength to ours."
Harte's most recent club was Spanish side Levante where he spent three years after leaving Leeds in 2004. He is considered a dead-ball specialist and has scored a number of high-profile free-kicks and penalties, including 11 goals for his country.
