Future father-in-law cuts off suitor's hand Monday December 03, 2007
A Greek ex-convict sliced off the hand of his daughter's fiance with a sword during a meeting announcing their impending nuptials on the island of Naxos, Greek public television reported Sunday.
The young man, aged 18, had his right hand amputated. He remained hospitalised Sunday with numerous sword wounds, hospital officials contacted by AFP confirmed.
The father, 47, was also armed with a cord to strangle the young man. He attacked his daughter's fiance at his ex-wife's home, where the teenager went Friday to ask for the hand of his 15-year-old beloved, the station reported.
The father fled after the attack before turning himself in to local police Saturday. He had been out of jail just a few years after serving time for a 1996 murder, the report added.
