Farmer fined for rooster's crowing
Farmer fined for rooster's crowing Thursday November 29, 2007
A farmer with a rooster accused of crowing too loud in a northern Italian hamlet was fined 200 euros, the ANSA news agency reported.
Swiss border, told the judge the cock was the only one he had left after getting rid of four others because of his neighbour's complaints.
A henhouse cannot survive without at least one rooster, he argued.
But the judge disagreed and ordered him to pay a fine of 200 euros (300 dollars).
The farmer is appealing the ruling with the support of a local farmers' association, ANSA said.
