Injured extras in Tom Cruise movie threaten to sue

Eleven extras who were injured during the filming in the German capital of a World War II drama starring Tom Cruise are threatening to sue the producers of the film, their lawyer said.
"Those responsible on the set displayed inhuman indifference in playing with the health and the lives of the extras," lawyer Ariane Bluttner said.
She said she would launch legal action against the US production company making the 80-million-dollar Hollywood production "Valkyrie" "unless it unbureaucratically and rapidly compensated the injured".
The men, dressed as Nazi soldiers, were sitting on the back of a truck made to look like a Wehrmacht military vehicle on Sunday when the driver turned sharply, causing a side panel to spring open and the extras fell out.
One of the men required hospital treatment while others suffered minor cuts and bruises.
A police spokesman said the truck was being inspected for technical defects as part of the investigation into possible charges of bodily harm resulting from negligence.
Cruise is starring as Count Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg, an aristocratic Nazi officer who mounted a failed plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler in 1944 as Germany was losing World War II.
Cruise's portrayal has attracted controversy because of his affiliation with the Church of Scientology, which is widely viewed in Germany as a commercial outfit that exploits the vulnerable.
