Turkish PM says he will push for early elections Wednesday May 02, 2007
The directors of the Native Land Trust Board meet today to discuss for the first time a report on the recent audit into its operations.
Fiji President Ratu Josefa Iloilo heads the board that will hear the report by the audit firm KPMG Chartered Accountants.
The audit is part of a 'clean-up' of all Fijian institutions initiated by the interim regime following the 2006 coup.
National television has reported that a leaked report of KPMG revealed failure on the part of the NLTB to carry out the necessary due diligence on the mySAP IT system.
The report also says that the auditors have suggested that NLTB reconsider doing business between its business arm Vanua Development Corporation Limited and Pacific Connex.
The report further alleges that PCX still owes VDCL over $800,000.
Pacific Connex is managed by mySAP agent, Fijian millionaire Ballu Khan, who won the tender to install the NLTB's IT systems.
Khan has questioned the credibility of the report, saying there are certain elements who are trying to discredit him and the directors of PCX, NLTB general manager Kalivati Bakani and NLTB director Keni Dakuidreketi.
Interim Fijian Affairs Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau has explained that the audit was commissioned as a result of the growing concerns relating to the Board's management, the alleged misuse of the Board's resources and the alleged failure of the 'mySAP' IT system to achieve all of its deliveries.
Critics of the NLTB say that it has compromised the welfare of the landowners, its core responsibility, in its pursuit of business ventures.
