Fiji resort hosts Oz TV show shoot

The interior of the Taunovo Bay Resort villa. As part of the development plan, the group opened the Taunovo Bay air-strip on Monday.

A six-month-old luxury resort located near Pacific Harbour, outside Suva, was among shoot-spots of Australia’s famous reality TV show ‘Australia’s Next Top Model, it has been revealed.

The one-week filming of one episode was done in March early this year, and done very quietly at Taunovo Bay Resort and Spa.

And the resort was held to its word that it was prohibited from releasing any information until the programme was aired on Australian TV.

Australia’s Next Top Model TV show has over two million viewers in Australia.

“In this episode, the six remaining models take part in two photo shoots. The first was at the resort with photographer Chris Ferguson and the second was with Victoria’s Secret Photographer Russell James. These took place on Taunovo Bay’s private island, Nanuku,” a statement from the resort said.

It added: “After the first shoot, the winning models were given a luxurious spa treatment, whilst the losers were made to wear the resort uniform and do the chores of a house maid”.

Head housekeeper at the resort Ani Rokovunisei said she hoped the girls would succeed as models because she would not give them a job in housekeeping.

Show producer Pete Tame of Granada Productions, who was in charge of the episode, said: “Taunovo Bay Resort & Spa offered an ideal base for filming Australia’s Next Top Model”.

He added: “I just wish I could’ve been there on a holiday enjoying the resort as a blissfully happy guest, but if I have to work 18 hours a day, it’s a pretty good place to do it”.

The owner and chief executive of Taunovo Bay Resort & Spa, Mitch Hagerman enjoyed having the film crew and the stars at the resort.

“It was a privilege to host a leading TV show at the resort. We were very happy that everything went so smoothly and we would welcome the Australia’s Next Top Model back again,” Hagerman said.

Taunovo Bay Resort and Spa is stage one of a multi million dollar development on the Coral Coast, featuring beachfront grand villas.
